We started UnPlan because we loved the liberating thrill of solo travel, but hated the relentless planning fatigue, awkward solo dinners, and safety vigilance that came with it.
The Solo Travel Dilemma
In 2023, our founders sat in a mountain teahouse in Himachal. All around were solo travelers staring into their phones or struggling to negotiate high-altitude transit alone. Meanwhile, commercial tour groups were herding 40 people through loudspeaker microphones.
We asked: What if solo travel felt like joining a curated dinner party in the wilderness?
By capping cohorts strictly at 8, enforcing mandatory government 18+ ID verification, and empowering verified local hosts, we created a third way to see the world. No tourist traps. No unverified strangers. Just pure, unforgettable shared adventure.
