In Meghalaya, we hike down 3,500 stone steps to the Double Decker Root Bridge, camp beside the impossibly transparent Umngot River where boats look suspended in mid-air, and cliff-jump into turquoise plunge pools guarded by limestone gorges.

Day-by-day expedition itinerary
Guwahati to the Abode of Clouds
Meet at Guwahati airport. Scenic winding drive up to Shillong. Stop at Umiam Lake for cohort introductions and evening stroll around Laitlum Canyons.
The Descent into Nongriat
Hike down the legendary moss-covered stone stairs to Nongriat village. Cross steel wire suspensions and stand in awe under the living ficus root bridges.
Rainbow Falls & Natural Rock Pools
Trek deeper to the turquoise basin of Rainbow Falls. Swim in chilly crystalline pools and rest under giant ferns before our evening community dinner.
Cherrapunji Waterfalls & Mawmluh Cave
Ascend from the valley and explore the subterranean caverns of Mawmluh with headlamps. Gaze at Nohkalikai Falls plunging off sheer red cliffs.
Shnongpdeng River Haven
Journey to the border village of Shnongpdeng. Pitch camp right beside the river pebbles. Kayak on water so clean you see fish 20 feet below.
Krang Shuri Waterfalls & Bamboo Trek
Excursion to the luminous turquoise lagoons of Krang Shuri. Walk the bamboo trail of Mawryngkhang perched on vertical cliff faces.
Return to Guwahati
Morning cliff jump and final river swim, followed by a scenic drive back to Guwahati Airport for evening flights.
